[Pgcluster-general] Need clarification on cybercluster load balancing/failover

>From what I have read so far on this list it looks like the way
cybercluster implements failover is as a separate listener/process on
one of the cybercluster nodes. This load balancer will accept and
redirect connections from client applications to different nodes based
on load and availability. My question is what happens when the entire
node becomes unavailable (the entire system running the load balancer
goes down). In this case the load balancer is no longer running. How
will failover work then? Does one of the other nodes bring up an
interface with the IP address of the load balancer? There does not seem
to be any concept of a virtual IP address being used.

It seems that for a more fault tolerant system an external load balancer
is needed. If an external load balancer is used then any one of the
nodes could be used. Is my assessment correct?
